Noteworthy ancestry of Christoph Waltz

Austrian-German actor Christoph Waltz, best known for his work in Django Unchained and Inglorious Basterds has some interesting ancestors. Here's a rough draft.

1. Christoph Waltz, b. 1956. Actor.
2. Johannes Waltz, 1922-1964. Set and costume designer.
3. Elisabeth Urbancic, b. 1925. Set and costume designer.
6. Rudolf von Urbantschitsch, 1879-1964. Psychiatrist and author.
7. Maria Mayen, 1892-1978. Actress.
12. Viktor von Urbantschitsch, 1847-1921. Physician.
13. Caroline Froeschl. Sister of the painter Karl Froeschl.
24. Edvard Urbancic
48. Alojsa Urbancic, 1786-1855. Lord of Turn Castle.
49. Marija Brunich
96. Martin Urbancic, lord of Turn Castle in Slovenia.
97. Konstanze Dietrich

Josipina Turnograjska, the first really notable female Slovenian poet, was the daughter of Alojsa Urbancic's (#48) brother and thusly a first cousin four times removed of Christoph Waltz. Another Rudolf von Urbantschitsch, son of Rudolf's (#6) brother, was a composer and the conductor for the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra for many years.

Intriguing! I thought he was wonderful in Django!

(I bet he's distantly related to the Montferrat boys... Most of of the Central European nobility seeems to be!) ;-D

No doubt! With a little more digging genealogists could probably link him up to most, if not all, of Europe's Catholic nobility. Waltz is from a very accomplished bloodline, and being part Slovenian means he's also part Slav :)
