For those who missed my announcements on the [livejournal.com profile] plantagenesta and [livejournal.com profile] oltramar comms, be sure to check out my Personal Appearances of Medieval People Project. What did king so-and-so look like? What color were queen such-and-such's eyes? I've collected accounts from as many eyewitness and near-contemporary sources as I could find. And if you've seen the project before, please note I've made major updates recently!

Great!!!! It looks wonderful! I see you've improved the formatting!
A note re: one author:
Otto Moreno of Acerbo

The chronicle is by Otto & Acerbo Morena (a father-and-son team) of Lodi, and an anonymous continuator.

What are these communities? These look awesome! How fascinating!

Wow. *goes to read*

And. I have a game invite for you, madame. Please to be going to the user info page for [livejournal.com profile] marvelmax and joining us.

See, along with some friends, I'm putting together a new Marvel-based RPG on LJ. We're recruiting far and wide for talented, literate and fun people passionate about the fandom and its characters to write for us.

Literally any character from Marvel is welcomed, whether villain, hero, supporting cast, no matter how obscure.

Plots will be both moderator-initiated and player-initiated and driven, with total flexibility and freeform being the mantra of play.

We've got some awesome people on board for this, but we want a whole lot more.

So come join us, hon!

Yes, deciding on a formatting was quite challenging! Originally they were hodge-podge and that didn't work. Then I had it divided by male and female, and that didn't work. Now I have it organized (loosely) by geography, starting in Scandinavia and swinging down into the Islamic world. I'm going to add direct links at the top of the page soon so you can just zip to whichever country you want to see.

Thanks for the correction!

Yes - a navigation bar and anchors for it would be useful!

I see Guido of Biandrate has disappeared?!

I'll see what else I can turn up...

[livejournal.com profile] oltramar is a Crusades-oriented community. Historical discussions, notes and queries, and fangirl/boy-ing.

I suppose poor Guido must've gotten lost in the shuffle... he's back up now.

Added navigation aids, check it out and see what you think!

Great!
Was wondering: would you like it in a frame-set, so the navigation bar can be permanently visible at the side? I could do it for you.

Re: Guido - might be worth mentioning (just so people have a handle on who he is) that he took part in the Second Crusade along with his brother-in-law William the Elder of Montferrat.

I thank you for offering, but I really don't like frames. Personal prejudice. But I do appreciate the thought! And if you other ideas, feel free to suggest them.

Yeah, I'll get that up soon, I was just concentrating on putting him back on. I'm going to go through and clean up a lot of the profiles next.

Anchors, then, to return to the top after each section?
As it stands, users have to scroll all the way back up to get to the bar to choose a country.

Hey, I think I actually have another contribution for you -- I need to translate it out of Latin first, though... :)

Re: Guido of Biandrate:
son-in-law of William III of Montferrat

No - son-in-law of Renier I, brother-in-law of William the elder (who is generally numbered as V in modern Italian works).
His wife was a daughter of Renier I and Gisela, but we don't know her name.
