In the spirit of the holiday season...
Dec. 18th, 2007 03:39 amNow that Christmas or religiously-themed holiday of your choice is upon us, I know a lot of people are thinking seriously about donating to a charity. Good will toward men and all that. With that in mind, I'm going to be completely selfish and biased and make a request of my flist. If you choose to make a monetary donation this holiday season, I'd like for you to consider donating to a charity that serves the Mississippi Gulf Coast. There are children in Africa and Cambodia and all over that need your help. But this is me being selfish and asking for my people. There are people down here who desperately need all kinds of help, especially now that the FEMA parks are being closed.
Habitat for Humanity of the MS Gulf Coast is building homes and providing housing throughout the hurricane-ravaged Gulf Coast. I used to be a HfH crewleader.
Loaves and Fishes is a soap kitchen in Biloxi. To donate or volunteer, call (228) 436-6172.
Humane Society of South Mississippi always needs donations and support.
There is only one Planned Parenthood in all of Mississippi, and that's in Hattiesburg, about an hour north of the Gulf Coast.
