Comment to this post with the name of a character that I have written in fic. Or geeked out about.

I will comment telling you the following:

a. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.
b. One of his/her best traits.
c. One of his/her worst traits.
d. How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.
e. The story/chapter/paragraph/phrase where I feel that I truly captured the character*.
f. My plans (if any) to write the character in the near future.

I'm pretty sure you've written about Tony Stark, yes?

Yep!

a. I don't always like Tony, but I always find him to be a fascinating character. In a lot of ways, he's a very unusual superhero -- he didn't start out as a starry-eyed kid, but a grown man who already possessed a lot of personal power outside of being a superhero.

b. Tony is a self-made superhero -- no lab accident involving irradiated animal bites, no accident of birth gifting him with a mutant gene. He used his formidable intellect to make himself Iron Man, and then chose to remain Iron Man (albeit with intervening periods of alcoholism, Rhodey, The Crossing, etc.)

c. It took a literal loss of heart for Tony to discover his metaphorical one.

Tony has a ruthless streak, which I don't always find a bad thing -- it's refreshing sometimes when a character doesn't angst for 20+ issues over putting a creep like Mallen down like a mad dog.

d. One of the best things about writing Tony is that he can come across as being very sweet and charming, a broken drunk, or a complete ruthless bastard, and you can find canon to support all of it. Not a lot of characters have that sort of depth.

e. Shrapnel (http://mississippienne.livejournal.com/32650.html#cutid1).

Even then, Tony found violence was all too easy for him. He entered every battlefield clad for war, the armor seperating him from the brutalities he inflicted. Never seperated from his armor. A knight become one with his weapons. When he removes his mask and holds it in his hands, Tony remembers the Inferno, a poet holding his "severed head by the hair, swinging it like a lantern in its hand". A sower of discord. He had received an excellent education, the best his father could afford. Only the best.

f. It's entirely possible, although I don't have any plot bunnies for him right at this moment -- but anything can happen.

Ooh, I really love that excerpt. And I pretty much agree with everything you said. :)

a. Reading TBolts, and then discovering [livejournal.com profile] scans_daily and seeing everyone squeeing over the Teen Titans and other characters, but no one seeming to notice that Zemo was the fucking MAN.

b. I love that Zemo is the little engine that could of supervillainy. He doesn't have superpowers, aside from the New Tbolts stint as Cosmic Zemo, he's just a REALLY determined guy with a pink (magenta) mask, a grudge, and Teutonic know-how.

c. Zemo is a deeply selfish character -- even when he became a semi-good guy, he still did good deeds for the wrong reasons. He wants to save the world to satisfy his overwhelming ego, to show that he is a better HERO than his father was ever a VILLAIN, not because it's the right thing to do. His bigotry is connected to this, as a manifestation of his need to feel superior to everyone, to anyone.

d. I love writing Zemo! I can go super serious and delve into a lot of abnormal psychology, or I can go humorous (make fun of Zemo? Perish the thought!). I get plot bunnies for him and the Tbolts crew very easily.

e. I think my most fun Zemo is from this drabble (http://caia-comica.livejournal.com/64237.html?thread=565997#t565997) on Caia's lj.

Zemo's terminal ennui had merged with his ego, and swelled to a size much too big to fit inside the Folding Castle. So, in a moment of weakness, he allowed Fixer to take him out to a "local joint", as Norbert called it.

"I jusssht... I just vant to TALK to him," Zemo slurred to the bartender. "To AMERIKA. Is that SO WRONG?" Hiccupping, he grabbed his beer and tried to take a deep swig. Unfortunately, he'd forgotten to lift up his mask, and the beer dribbled off his chin and pooled on the counter. The apathetic bartender reached over and moped up the mess.

The karaoke DJ announced the next selection as Heart's "Alone". Fixer bounded up to the microphone and began crooning, "Till now I always got by on my own, I never really cared until I met you!" He fell to his knees, looked into Zemo's eyes, and sang, "And now it chills me to the bone! How do I get you ALONE!?"

f. I want to write some Mel/Zemo from the Juergen-verse we came up with. Or Zemo interacting with the Fenris twins, or Zemo when he was getting pimp-beat by Red Skull. Damn. I need to get writing.

a. I've always loved Matt -- he's a lover and a fighter.

b. Matt is spiritual, incredibly brave, and passionate. If he hadn't become a superhero/attorney, I think he would've made an amazing physician with his superpowers and personal attributes.

c. Matt is mentally unstable (almost certainly bipolar, plus abandonment issues) and he has a weakness for dangerous women.

d. You have to keep Matt's blindness in mind whenever writing him -- he identifies people by scent and heartbeat instead of by hair color, he doesn't see the storm clouds but feels the air pressure change as a thunderstorm approaches, and he uses his fingers rather than his eyes to read the newspaper. He lives in a rich sensory world that does not include sight. He can be a challenge to write!

e. I'm rather proud of The Landing Gets You (http://community.livejournal.com/slashthedrabble/416899.html#cutid1).

f. I've rarely written Matt from inside his head, and I should do a spotlight story on him someday.

a. Andreas is a kinky bisexual ex-Neo Nazi terrorist punk who wears thigh-high boots and had pervy mutant powers with his twin sister. What's not to love???

A little ditty in his honor:

Andreas is an uke
Everyone wants some of his nooky.
He's sore vexed
Whenever he's surprised sexed.
Hands off, mister!
Andreas' heart belongs to his sister!

b. Andreas' willingness to discard the racist rhetoric he was raised with and remake his entire life. That's a HUGE step that most people would never be capable of.

c. He never really dealt with his rape and torture by the Purple Man, but launched himself right into superheroing. I think he's in MASSIVE DENIAL and that kind of trauma will catch up to him sooner or later.

d. Andreas is pretty easy to write -- he's got a lot of facets to explore, and lots of interesting relationships with the other characters.

e. Sister Morphine (http://community.livejournal.com/slashthedrabble/407887.html#cutid1).

Misfortune, which followed Andreas like a lover, had found a home in the most wretched place in his soul. A misfortune even the most twisted of playwrights would not have touched, leaving him beaten black and blue (no, purple), as unworthy as he believed himself to be. Unwilling to give himself relief, no mercy, no morphine.

Despite all of the training to bring out the sadist in him, Andreas was discovering a talent for masochism.

f. Oh I'm sure Andreas will be popping in at some point! It'd be easier if not for my personal refusal to read Ellisbolts.
