Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things. Facts, habits, or goals all count. At the end, choose 5 people to be tagged. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.

Well, I wasn't tagged but I thought this sounded like fun, so here goes.

1. I didn't lose my virginity until I was 20-years-old. I'm so thankful. I really was in love with him (I love him still) and that's something I'll never regret.

2. I was born 20 years to the day that my paternal grandmother died. She died December 6, 1964, and I was born December 6, 1984.

3. I look entirely Caucasian, but my maternal grandmother was Mestee (Melungeon) and my maternal grandfather was mixed white, black, and Native American.

4. My brother is schizophrenic, and for awhile I was afraid I was schizophrenic, too.

5. I once flew halfway across the country to live with a guy I met on the internet. We lived together for a year. Believe it or not, this still isn't the craziest thing I've ever done.

6. I'm very DOMINANT.

7. I've seen a live stageshow of Rocky Horror and it was soooo fun. The entire cast had thick Southern accents, and if anything could make Rocky Horror even funnier, it's thick Southern accents.

8. I have basically no inhibitions about my body and I'll strut around the house or the gym changing room naked. I have also flashed a large crowd of people on Bourbon St. Repeatedly.

9. I don't particularly like kissing. My most recent ex almost changed my mind, though.

10. My friends tease me that I date like a man. When it's time for me to go, there I go. Out the door. Ultimately, I feel like I'm emotionally happier that way than a lot of women I know who stick around and let a guy treat them like shit.

11. My most recent boyfriend was a tattooed, bisexual guitarist. He'd also been shot as a teenager after some guys tried to rob him. We used to joke that he should've become a rapper, after all, he'd been shot enough times.

12. I have rung in the New Year in Times Square.

13. I think Japanese sounds goofy, and that as far as writing systems go, Chinese is much more aesthetically pleasing. I don't get why everyone is so obsessed with visiting and living in Japan and learning Japanese. If I had a chance, I'd rather go to Vietnam or Cambodia or Thailand or Korea, not Japan.

14. I still dream about moving back to Istanbul.

15. I never watch TV and most of the movies I'd seen in the last ten years have been based on comic books. As a result, I am deeply pop culturally illiterate.

16. For that matter, I mostly read 'classic' literature. I cut my teeth on Capote and Allende and Wilde, the popular paperbacks are not going to do it for me, okay?

17. The strangest place I've ever masturbated was in a convent. And no, I was not a nun.

18. My great-aunt Elgie May abandoned her family and ran off to New Orleans to be a hooker back in the '40s. Then she became a biker and is now covered in badass biker tattoos. After she got old she got really religious and preachy. Ah, there ain't nothing like a reformed sinner.

19. I was tear-gassed in a riot in Istanbul.

20. I've had dinner with a senator several times -- Sen. John Gianetti of Maryland. And no, there was no funny business going on with me and the senator. He's a friend of my ex's father.

21. There's some kind of hereditary schizophrenia or something on my father's side of the family. My great-great-aunt Mary murdered her children, burned the house down, and drowned herself. Two cousins committed suicide. My father and grandfather were both extremely violent, mentally-unstable criminals. I don't know what the fuck was going on, but there's definately something genetic.

22. I am a sexual assault survivor. That's all I'm going to say about it. Don't ask.

23. I have given my mother a black eye before. In my defense, she deserved it.

24. I was unschooled from the age of about 13 until I was 17. It wasn't for any reason other than my mother was lazy and didn't want to be bothered with me.

25. I spent a lot of my childhood living in hotels where my mother worked. It's not as much fun as you'd think, but I did get a lot of time in the swimming pool.

My friend Kat used to say I'd lived the life of a 90-year-old, and in all honesty, some days I feel more like 64 than 24.
