transemacabreInspired by a talk with Caia, I realized that Doctor Doom is surprisingly slashable. Well, that or I just have a thing for scarred, mask-clad, megalomaniacal European noblemen. *ponders* NAAAAAAH.
The more issues of Fantastic Four and Namor's solo series I read, the more, uh, interesting subtext I come across. Let's just say Doctor Doom has a need to dominate very powerful men, and that Namor is frequently the object of his affections.
Doom and Namor first met in FF #6, when Doom approaches Namor about a team-up to take those blasted Fantastic Four down a peg or two. This involves lots of Namor angst and a ridiculously convoluted plot from Doom. It set the tone for their future meetings, really.
Check out that seashell throne. Also, what the hell is with Namor's taste in decor?
Namor's mooning over a photo of Sue. Doom seems a little amused and perhaps a trifle jealous.
This sequence is so awesome.
Namor causes a stir anywhere he goes. What do you think his theme song is? I'm thinking Prince's "Pussy Control".
It's SUE'S DILDO. Nope, although that would've been pretty frickin' hilarious. It's a photo of Namor. When did she and Namor get together and take photos, anyway?
Johnny, who was a total jerk back then, burns it up. Anyway, Namor shows up and Doom unleashes his fiendish plot. Which involves, get this... blasting his enemies INTO THE SUN. Man, they don't make evil plots like they used to.
Never one to let an opportunity to kick some ass pass him by, Namor LEAPS FROM ASTEROID TO ASTEROID to catch up with Doom.
Doom then RIDES A METEOR. Which, while awesome, can't compare to Namor leap-frogging asteroids.
