WTF are you fucking kidding me?

So a person on my flist posted to her lj recently (I *think* she identifies as a she) and said something of which the gist was, "If you like my fic, send me photos of your titties!"

WTF? I realize it may seem a little odd that after, what, 11 years or so in fandom, I am shocked by this when I've seen some strange and horrifying things over the years, but I truly never thought I'd check my lj friend's list and find a post soliciting photographs of our breasts. I'm not gonna link to the post and I'm not going to call the person out, because this is not a witch hunt, but I am gonna say that I don't think that's cool. I really like her fic, but I don't know her too well, and don't consider her a personal friend, so maybe I'm mistaken about something (is this like a personal joke with friends of hers, maybe??), or at least I sincerely hope I'm mistaken about something, because this is the weirdest call for feedback I've seen in my life.

TL;DR: If you wanna see my titties, it will take more than fanfic to help you achieve this goal

doesn't strike me as weird. even a little amusing. i'm way used to folks sayin' whatever they wish to. it always seemed that the rule of thumb is unfriend those who post stuff you don't like. generally speaking.

particularly though, here is something outside my experience; fanfic culture. if there was some cultural transgression here that i don't know about, perhaps consider it a case of overlapping cultural margins maybe?

in any case, i thought you were cool to not to call 'em out, and just state your feelings.

I know exactly what you're talking about, and I was just as horrified. Looking at the comments she got, I don't think she meant naked titties, but. Still. WHAT THE FUCK.

I don't know if it's made more or less weird by the fact she's barely been around in the past few years, but I'm just as glad I'm not likely to be interacting with her anytime soon. D:
