I swear I've seen at least 30 Thor/Loki fanfics that refer to Loki in such terms as "delicate", "fragile", "tiny", etc. Can we stop with this bullshit, please? Tom Hiddleston is 6'1 and probably weighs between 200-250 lbs. The only person he looks small in comparison to is Chris Hemsworth, and that's only because Hemsworth is roughly the size of a mack truck. And even then, Hemsworth does not tower over him. He's maaaaaybe an inch taller, if that.

For real-real. I know fandom has this whole thing about BIG MANLY MEN paired with tiny fragile ukes, but Loki and Thor really don't fit that dynamic, at all. This cast photo nicely illustrates that there is essentially no height difference between the two guys (also, Natalie Portman is so teeny that she could live in Chris or Tom's pocket and they just could slip her an M&M once in a while).

Maybe Loki is tiny in comparison to other Frost Giants, but by Asgardian standards he's at least average, if not above average.

AW, IDK, HE'S GOT DELICATE FEATURES~ AT LEAST. He's definitely way skinnier than Thor on purpose, given that in the comics I've mostly seen him drawn ~comic-book ripped~ and I bet the 20 lbs of muscle Tom put on when he was auditioning for Thor's role would've worked fine as Loki if Ken Branagh hadn't told him to lose the weight again—I assume to emphasize the difference between Loki and Thor.

WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY is that I totally see where you're coming from re: Chris and Tom, but I think as movie characters they drew attention to the fact that Thor's fighting style is brute force where Loki's is being agile and magic-y. And also that I am allowed to have a thing for Thor being able to hold Loki down, although I'd never refuse the opposite with depowered!Thor and Loki mocking him for ~being the weaker one now~ and holding Thor still while—

WHOOPS, WENT ON A BIT OF TANGENT THERE.

Agreed! You took the words right out of my mouth. Tom Hiddleston is not delicate by a longshot, and although I'm sure Loki could handle just as much damage as Thor (if not more in some cases), he's not supposed to look like he could. (I agree that he's tall, but that also fits with him, I think: regal, magical princeling that he is, and all.)

Besides, most of what I write is frost giants/Loki. And by their standards? He is a tiny little Asgardian kidlet.

Hi! I haven't commented on your journal in ages.

And by 'your' I mean 'the owner of this journal', oh bloody-- HELLO TO YOU TOO, BY THE WAY, PERSON WHOSE COMMENT I JUST REPLIED TO. I should lay down before I hurt myself.

Yeah, I'm...with you there. It probably doesn't help that I'm not a big Thor/Loki shipper to begin with (I understand 110% where its coming from, and I'll read it from time to time, but I personally am more interested in their dynamic as brothers) and whenever I see them cast in the stereotypical slash pairing roles it makes me do a serious side-eye. Then again, it seems like a lot of slashers don't know/don't want to write a story unless they have a seme and an uke, and a cookie-cutter stereotype relationship, and that means almost always someone is getting written obnoxiously out of character. Damn you kids today -_-

...Also as a Hiddleston fangirl I spend most of my time fantasizing about climbing him like a tree. So the idea of anyone finding him 'tiny' or 'fragile' makes me want to laugh, and then maybe slam my head into a desk, groaning.

Yeah, the insistence on bottom!Loki has been baffling me a bit. I was in SGA fandom before and the main slash pairing was far more egalitarian, with both guy's bottoming and topping, sometimes *gasp* even in one fic!

I must admit, I do like the idea that Thor wouldn't bottom, because he buys into those stereotypes himself and feels that clearly his womanlish little brotehr should take that role (though this is sadly rarely addressed or controverted in fic).

The frail widdle Loki stereotype is silly though and I find it annoying that no one ever points out that Thor is only as powerful as he is, because he has a magical hammer!

Actually, the hammer is only used to help him control and conjure his power and make it more manageable. He'd be just as powerful without it, but much less easier to control. He's not the god of hammers, ya know... I'm replying to a comment made in 2011, the world has gone to Hel.

I laughed. out loud. twice.

Honestly, I'm not a big Thor/Loki shipper, and the few times I've written it have been with Loki in Sif's body.

I think this has to do with that ever-so-unappealing urge that some slash fans have to make one character the "woman" in the relationship. Not only the woman, mind you, but the over the top stereotypical woman...ugh!
