Norsekink: WTF is happening?
Sep. 14th, 2011 12:13 amSo I get online tonight and try to update one of my fills on
norsekink only to find, to my surprise, that my username has been banned. Um, okay, I received no warnings nor can I think of anything I did that would warrant a banning, but the comm is switching maintainers right now and maybe someone pushed a wrong button somewhere, IDK. So I messaged one of the mods about it.
Just now, on a hunch, I went and looked at the link to one of my old fills on NK. IT'S GONE. Someone went and deleted every last chapter of The Thousandth Man! If I hadn't copied it to this lj, it'd have disappeared into the gaping maw of the internet. Who would do this? And why? So bizarre!

Date: 2011-09-14 07:22 am (UTC)First off: can you confirm the accidental ban has been lifted?
The problem is that we can't undelete. Since you do have the stories saved on your journal, the easiest solution would be to add a new clearly titled comment to the original post, with a link that leads here.
If there is anything we can do to make this up to you, please let us know. Trust me the mods, don't hate you and I in fact am quite the fan.

Date: 2011-09-15 02:42 pm (UTC)You might notice that the numbers stop matching up at some point. This is caused by the fact that you had two chapter's thirteen.
Once again, I'm really sorry. We're here to make your life easier and we made it difficult instead ):

Date: 2011-09-14 02:59 pm (UTC)Or do you mean comment threads the mod(s) thought were simply too long?
If you mean the second one, I'm going to put out my two-cents here and say that rather smacks of censorship. :( Especially since one of the wonderful things about the kinkmeme is the conversations some of the fills produce, and those are often fuel for the authors. If a thread is long because it's getting off-topic, a polite mod-notice would be more than enough to steer the conversation back on track, rather than deleting a thread just because the mods are annoyed.
At least if I find any fics deleted, there's a chance you all can retrieve them, right? Been checking, so far so good, but there's a LOT of bookmarks I need to go through.
Thank god the spam is getting taken care of, though! Good on you!

Date: 2011-09-14 05:16 pm (UTC)So far, google cache has been good to us, but anything you've saved or anything we need to trawl google cache for, please let us know. Thank you!

Date: 2011-09-14 07:29 pm (UTC)Sorry, yes. That's what I meant.
I was able to recover Transemacabre's fills and have them waiting on my computer until she gives us her two cents on the matter. So far it looks like no one else was affected.
