This article on Childfreers might be one of the most awesomely funny things I have seen yet on the 'Net.

Moos can only dream of their children growing up to become bitter, angry jerks who hate their parents and spend their time on livejournal.

I think a lot of them are a) actually very young, b) poseurs, and c) hardcore animal rights/vegan types of the sort who simply hate human beings of any kind and idolise animals instead. As an omnivore who has yet to find another species with which I could sit up late at night drinking coffee and discussing poetry, I generally find that sort a pain in the backside. People who assume a dietary preference automatically make them morally superior and enables them to patronise others in consequence irritate the hell out of me. I know several people with illnesses which mean they are forced to have quite restricted diets, and I think a healthy person should be grateful they can eat anything.

At the same time, I don't think it's accurate to assume either straightness or whiteness on the part of people who are only visible in cyberspace.

Noooot quite. I'm a hardcore vegan/animal rights person, and I'm far from the vitriol of the child free people. I don't see the relationship twixt the two groups at all. I think you're making a lot of assumptions there.

Ah, Kali! You like the plants, huh? ;)

Me, I don't really have any problem with vegetarians/vegans. Although it really bites my ass when some of them claim not to eat meat because of moral reasons, then you see them scarfing down some mahi mahi or a chicken leg. Look, I don't care if it's technically not meat, that thing was flopping around till you whacked it's head off.

I really felt sorry for the veggie tourists I met in Turkey. Turkish food has lots of vegetables in it, but it's all cooked in animal fat or meat stock. The Turks aren't quite sure what vegetarianism is, except that it's possibly some sort of sexual deviancy.

I haven't had any animal protein except by accident in the last ten years. The "accident" involved a first date at a Burmese restaurant and being served a pork samosa by a well meaning but sadly mistaken waiter, and ended in me being green for a few days and forever associating the guy I was out with henceforth with acute nausea and falling off the wagon.

I'm a vegan for both health and moral reasons.

I do love plants. I'm deeply into botany. I love planting them, raising them, and KILLING THEM AHAHAHAAHAH!

Remember Mantis, the Avenger and Celestial Madonna who got knocked up by the plant-dude from the Cotati race? Everytime you bite into one of your succulent vegetable dishes, I want you to think about what you've done. YOU'RE EATING MANTIS' BABY DADDY.

Perhaps I was a bit presumptuous in declaring them white sight unseen, but I stand by my belief that they are straight. Gay people are rather unlikely to biologically reproduce with their partners, for obvious reasons, unless their names are Lex Luthor and Superman.
